ECP is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of Eosinophil Cationic Protein in serum. ECP can be used to assess the severity of asthma and inflammatory skin conditions (e.g. eczema), to differte between intrinsic asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and monitor therapy.

Test Principle

  1. ECP from the sample binds with the anti-ECP on the solid phase.
  2. Unbound material is removed in a washing stage.
  3. Enzyme labeled anti-ECP is added which bind to ECP.
  4. Unbound anti-ECP is removed in a washing stage.
  5. Substrate is added and the solution is incubated.
  6. Stop solution is added.
  7. The colour is measured with a photometer and the amount of ECP is estimated using a standard curve
